Everything families most often ask us — about our dogs, our process, and life with a Standard Poodle.
About Round Rock Rubies
We're based in Round Rock, Texas, just north of Austin, serving the greater Austin area and surrounding regions.
We're a small, home-based breeder. Our dogs are family — they live in our home, sleep on the couch, and are loved every single day. We are not a kennel, and we don't run multiple litters at once.
As a small home breeder, we have very few litters. Quality and the health of our dogs always come before quantity. Ruby is our foundation girl, and we plan her litters carefully.
About Our Dogs
Yes. Both Ruby (dam) and Ransom (sire) are AKC registered, and our litters are registered with the AKC. Every puppy goes home with AKC registration application papers.
Our sire, AKC Champion Sharpershooter I'm Worth The Price, has complete OFA clearances for hips, elbows, eyes, cardiac, and patellas, plus a fully clear genetic panel. Ruby's full health testing is currently in progress and results will be shared with all puppy buyers as they come in. We're committed to full transparency on health.
Yes. Both procedures are done at three days of age by our veterinarian, in keeping with the Standard Poodle breed standard.
All of our puppies are deep red Standard Poodles.
About Adopting a Puppy
Pet home (Limited AKC Registration): $3,000. Show / breeding home (Full AKC Registration): $4,000.
Start by submitting a Puppy Application. Kathryn personally reviews every application and responds within 48 hours. If approved, a $300 non-refundable deposit secures your spot.
The $300 deposit is non-refundable if you change your mind. However, if for any reason we can't deliver a puppy to you (insufficient litter, health issue, etc.), your deposit is fully refunded or transferred to a future litter — your choice.
Puppies go home around 8 weeks of age. For this litter, the earliest go-home date is June 5, 2026. Some puppies may stay an extra week depending on their weaning progress.
Yes. Approved buyers are welcome to visit their puppy in person, typically around 5–6 weeks of age. We do require an approved application and deposit before scheduling visits, and visits are by appointment only.
For the safety of our family and our dogs, we don't share our home address publicly. Once you're an approved buyer, we'll share the location for your visit.
No. We do not ship puppies via air or unaccompanied ground transport. Pickup is in Round Rock, Texas. We're happy to meet partway for buyers within reasonable driving distance, or arrange ground transportation for an additional fee for buyers further away.
About Standard Poodles
Yes — they're one of the best family breeds out there. Standard Poodles are intelligent, affectionate, gentle with children, and bond deeply with their families. They're also one of the most trainable breeds.
Standard Poodles are a high-maintenance breed when it comes to grooming. They require professional grooming every 4–8 weeks, plus regular brushing at home (a few times a week minimum) to prevent matting. This is an important factor to consider before adopting.
Standard Poodles are considered one of the lowest-shedding breeds and are often a good fit for families with mild allergies. (No dog is truly "hypoallergenic," but poodles come closer than most.)
Standard Poodles typically range from 45–70 pounds and 22–27 inches at the shoulder when fully grown.
Standard Poodles typically live 12–15 years with good care.
Standard Poodles are active and athletic. They need daily exercise — at minimum a good walk plus some play time. They love hiking, swimming, fetch, and any kind of active engagement with their family.
After You Bring Your Puppy Home
You'll have lifetime support from us. Kathryn is always available by email or phone for questions about training, health, grooming, or just to share photos and updates. We love staying in touch with our puppy families.
Round Rock Rubies has a lifetime take-back promise. If at any point in your puppy's life you can no longer keep them, you must contact us first. We will always take a puppy back, or help you find an approved home. No Round Rock Rubies puppy will ever end up in a shelter.
Yes. We provide a written 2-year health guarantee against serious congenital and genetic defects. Full details are in our Adoption Contract.
